EDUCATION OF A WANDERING MAN

the Wanderling

Because of the number of pages, the book sometimes has a tendency load slow. So said, it is also suggested you scroll down the pages slowly at first as well, giving the pages that follow a chance to load equally. There are also several blank pages, but no missing text. Except that, for whatever reason, the version so linked to, and the only copy of Education of a Wandering Man that seems to appear anywhere free and online without the need to sign up for and a thousand pop-up ads, does not separate the book into individual chapters. In order to locate where Chapter 4 starts, for example, go to page 15 as shown on the upper left hand corner of your screen and find the last sentence of Chapter 3 which reads:

"I do not now remember all the titles, but I know I had Oscar Wilde's 'The Ballad of Reading Gaol,' Charles Finger's Great Escapes, and a collection of Emerson's essays."

Then, just one space down while still on page 15, with no designation for having done so, Chapter 4 starts, opening with the following sentence:

"The trip west was a rough one. For the first time when riding freights I had enough, although barely enough, for occasional meals. It was never advisable to allow those with whom you traveled to know you had money, however little. Moreover, I was anxious not to arrive home without some money. This was my first venture into the world alone and I wished to return with enough to hold me until I could find a job."

Google Books also has what they call a chapter by chapter "limited review" of The Education of a Wandering Man online that in everything I've checked seems to be the complete book. It is realy good to use to compare where the chapter breakdowns occur with the above PDF which isn't always clear. I've found it to be a very good source. Click HERE then simply scroll down the page to access the various chapters.
