PRATT & WHITNEY R-2800 DOUBLE WASP RADIAL ENGINE

The bottom graphic shows all that remains of a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp aircraft engine that was thrown clear from a F4U Corsair that smashed into the high desert region of California's dry Mohave Desert. It is the same and only type power plant found in F6F Hellcats.

Although not all of the twin-row 18-cylinders remained intact, most likely because of the hard impact and possibly vandals, notice the similarity, especially so in the gears and bolts and such as compared to the graphic from the Sonora wreck, all the encrustation notwithstanding, clearly showing that the power plant from the Sonora wreck is indeed a Pratt & Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp aircraft engine.
