Note that the compound is not aligned on a due north-south axis, but instead paralelles the angle of the coastline. Due north is at the top of your screen, south to the bottom. Due west is straight to your left, east to your right. Click the map and a Google earth satellite view will come up. The Google areial view follows the same north-south east-west pattern. What that means is that the walls of the buildings and temples within the compound do not face north-south or east-west, but are tipped on an angle relative to receiving a straight on sunlight path from the rising sun during the time of the equinox.
