Victory Field is a long-unusable former World War II twin north and south dual X-shaped auxiliary landing field. The site of the onetime viable field is in the northwest corner of California's Antelope Valley in the Mojave Desert south of the little community of Rosamond and west of the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster --- more specifically just to the north and east of the intersection of 90th Street West and Avenue D (34.78 N / 118.27 W). During the war years Victory Field was used to train military pilots. Between the years 1949 to 1954 it was semi-used as a civilian airfield but closed to all air traffic sometime between 1954 and 1958. As can be seen by the above two graphics the remnant-remains of the airfield, for the most part, appear basically indistinguishable from the surrounding desert, even the top one only a few years after the war circa 1948.
